During this two-hour workshop we will cover:

  • The necessary equipment to get the best results when pressing roses,

  • Three methods of successfully pressing roses,

  • Preserving the colour and shape of your roses,

  • How to avoid mould in your press,

  • Storing your pressed roses to prolong their beauty.

Some of these methods can be applied to other thicker, denser flowers such as carnations, tulips, sunflowers, chrysanthemum, peonies, ranunculus.

The lesson is a Live, online workshop and is expected to last approximately two hours. (It will be recorded and can be sent to you afterwards if you are not in the UK or you can’t make the times available.) The class is hosted on Zoom from the UK (BST/GMT Time Zone- Please select your date and time carefully).

The Zoom link, ID and/or Password will be sent to you the day before the class begins. Please ensure you have provided the correct email address when booking and check any spam folders carefully should you not receive the link. Please also ensure you have a secure and stable internet connection.You do not need a Zoom account to join the class.

The class will be demonstrated using a traditional wooden press. NO EQUIPMENT IS PROVIDED. Feel free to take notes during the class but if you’d like to join in and press along, some useful equipment to have is:

  • A flower press with papers and dividers. (See our blog β€˜Choosing a Press’. Ensure your press is sturdy and robust enough for the thickness of roses.)

  • Sharp scissors or secateurs

  • Tweezers

  • Roses (Ensure your roses are fresh and without blemishes or damage. See the blog for more information on selecting flowers for your press.)

  • A notepad and pen to take any notes
