About Little Pressed Flower

Where it all began

Hello! I’m Ashton, a professional flower preservation artist from Cheshire in the UK.

After having my little boy in 2018, I left a 9 year career in teaching, seeking greater flexibility for new family life and a desire to be more creative.

In February 2020, I established Little Pressed Flower, and shortly afterwards we entered Lockdown here in the UK. The business was a welcome distraction from the Pandemic, but it also kept me sane being isolated with a toddler at home.

Little Pressed Flower has blossomed into much more than I ever anticipated; with a loyal customer base, a huge social media following, ambassadorships, my own published work, and a feature in Laura Ashley’s β€˜At the Kitchen Table’ series. There’s been many milestones over the years and I have my family, friends and followers to thank for that.

For the Love of Florals

I’ve been passionate about florals for as long as I can remember; wearing them, decorating with them, and growing them. I have pressed flowers since I was at University in 2008, when I received a bouquet from my husband and wanted to learn how to preserve it. I still have the framed pressed flowers displayed in our home; a rose and a chrysanthemum (two notoriously difficult flowers to press). They’ve certainly changed over the years, but so have I.

I often press my flowers using traditional flower presses, and prefer the natural, transformative beauty of pressed flowers. However, there’s the occasion I’ll enhance flowers using colour correction methods but personally, I prefer pressing them au-natural whenever possible.

With pressing flowers comes sourcing them too. I grow a lot of my own flowers here in Cheshire, and in 2022 my in-laws kindly set aside a patch of land on their small-holding to grow what I wanted too.

The business began with selling framed pressed flower compositions and stationary. However, it’s now expanded into epoxy resin art, which is a whole other realm of craftsmanship. If you’re interested in giving it a try, I’ve published a Beginner’s Guidebook for epoxy resin too!

I hope I can inspire you to find the joy in flower pressing.
